Em busca da vista perfeita para a City | Londres
Um dos meus objetivos, nesta última ida a Londres, era conseguir uma bela vista para apreciar a City de um pouco um pouco mais elevado. Depois de algumas pesquisas, percebi que meio mundo sobe ao Shard para o fazer, mas os cerca de 30 euros que pedem pela entrada fizeram-me logo mudar de ideias e achar que o mundo está louco.
É que não é andar no London Eye, que tem é caro e tal, mas é uma diversão que está lá só para o efeito. O Shard é um prédio com escritórios e restaurantes e afins, cobrar 30 euros para subir num elevador é um assalto à mão armada – Sim, paguei 22 dólares da última vez que subi ao Empire, mas vá, o Empire é o Empire.
Na minha busca online por alternativas encontrei referência ao SkyGarden, outro prédio, bem em frente ao Shard, do outro lado do Tamisa, que supostamente tinha um centro comercial e que portanto permitia a entrada, e uma vista bem boa.
Escolhida a opção no sábado de manhã, agarrei num copo de café do Costa e pus pernas ao caminho para dar com o dito SkyGarden, depois de algumas voltas e meio confundida achei a entrada que tinha nada mais, nada menos que uma fila gigante à porta. Como assim, fila para subir ao centro comercial? Não percebi a ideia, não sei se não estava no sítio/entrada certa, mas dei a volta ao edifício e não achei mais nenhum.
Quando já estava furiosa e a pensar, vou-me embora que não vou ficar à seca numa fila gigante para olhar por uma janela, dei de caras com o Monument.
O Monumento, mandado construir em 1671, em comemoração à reconstrução da cidade e evocação do grande incêndio de Londres em 1666, está mesmo ao virar da esquina, e tão entalada entre prédios que quase só dão por ele, quando lá esbarrarem. Foi o que me aconteceu, isso e descobrir que se pode subir por apenas 4,5 libras (3 se tiverem cartão de estudante).
Lá de cima não têm certamente uma vista tão incrível como numa dos outros dois edifícios, porque não é tão alto, mas o sacrifício de chegar lá cima, de escadas (!), é certamente muito maior, tanto que no fim vão receber um merecido diploma, hehehe.
Recomendo esta versão low cost de vistas para a City. Se tiverem mais alguma dica, algum prédio sem controlo de portaria, ótimo para subir ao último piso, partilhem aqui a informação que os leitores (e eu!) agradecem.
