Como é a maior e mais conhecida cidade nas margens do lago, emprestando-lhe até o nome. Está situada na extremidade do braço oeste/sul do Lago di Como, que tem a forma de um Y invertido e é o ponto de chegada da grande maioria dos visitantes que vêm da região de Milão.
Antes de começar a pesquisar um pouco mais sobre as numerosas vilas que se espalham ao longo das margens, era aqui que pensávamos começar a visita, mas com o passar do tempo, explorando melhor as diferentes opções e depois de descobrir o alojamento que vos falei aqui, chegamos à conclusão que havia muito mais para conhecer antes de chegar “à cidade”, e foi uma óptima opção.
Apesar de tudo, mas com as expectativas mais ajustadas, decidimos que ao final do dia íamos até lá, porque se tanta gente passava por lá e gostava, não havia de ser por acaso.
Foi assim que chegamos à cidade de Como por volta das 5h da tarde depois de um dia a explorar o lago de carro e de barco. Ao contrário de todas as localidades por onde tínhamos passado, Como já é uma cidade digna desse nome, maior, mais trânsito, mas mesmo assim e com a ajuda do GPS, foi fácil chegar ao centro e arranjar um parque onde estacionar.
As principais áreas de atração turística da cidade são:
– o seu centro histórico, onde convivem lado a lado edifícios da época medieval e do renascimento com alguns vestígios romanos.
– o lake shore, que nem sei bem como traduzir, mas que é a frente da cidade virada ao lago, com as suas villas típicas e zonas de jardim e passeio.
– o teleférico que une a cidade de Como até ao alto de Brunate.
Como o passeio pelo lago tinha permitido desfrutar muito mais das paisagens naturais e havíamos já subido a um teleférico ainda maior, decidimos dedicar o tempo que passamos em Como à cidade e ao seu centro histórico.
Começamos o nosso passeio perto da porta Romana di Como e percorremos várias das ruas pedonais do centro, com destaque para o Duomo e para a Piazza S. Fedele, até chegar à Piazza Cavour, junto ao lago. Os edifícios bem conservados, as esplanadas que se multiplicavam pelas ruas cheias de barzinhos e lojas com um ambiente óptimo e cheias de gente que se começava a juntar para o famoso aperitivo italiano compunham um cenário bem acolhedor e simpático. Acabámos por deambular por aqui quase até à hora de jantar e aproveitar para fazer umas comprinhas numa loja gourmet porque souvenir de itália são pastas, temperos e crema al pistachio (não façam essa cara, primeiro provem).
